January in Review

January was a wonderful start to the new year at Sakura Valley Montessori, filled with reflection, curiosity, and plenty of joyful moments.

We began the month by easing back into school life with New Year–themed activities. The children talked about New Year’s resolutions and goals, sharing what they hope to learn, try, or improve as the year unfolds. These conversations helped set a thoughtful tone for the months ahead and encouraged the children to see the new year as a fresh beginning. From there, we explored the concept of time: what a year means and how seasons change. Our classroom discussions led naturally into learning about winter, including how animals survive the colder months. The children were fascinated to learn about animals that hibernate, migrate, or adapt, and they loved discovering how nature changes to meet the challenges of winter.

January was also filled with everyday joys that make school life so special. We celebrated birthdays, sang lots of songs, spoke about Martin Luther King Jr. Day, danced freely, and spent time playing outside…even in the chilly weather. The children enthusiastically prayed for snow (sadly, it never came!), but that didn’t stop them from enjoying the crisp winter air and outdoor play.

As we wrap up January, we’re already looking ahead to February. With love, kindness, and plenty of heart-shaped fun on the way, we can’t wait to welcome all the excitement of Valentine’s celebrations and continue learning together.

Applications for our Spring School are now open, and we are always happy to welcome new students into our community. Click here for more information about spring school, or sign up for a meeting to learn more about our school here.
